HER NAME IS OBINNA

Exactly 28 years ago they all gathered at the Mackien hospital Enugu State the eastern part of Nigeria. The hospital I suppose was in pandemonium as a man was walking up and down the ward muttering and shaking his head. Friends and family both home and near took different positions calling upon God with different tongues and of course gesticulating. Let me try to remind you of some of thier lines "God of impossibilities!" , "Jehovah puru ime ihenile"(the God that can do everthing), "onye ime enigwe" (The God of heaven) I can imagine God that night nodding his head and perhaps filled with joy as the pregnant woman in the ward brought forth a beautifully beyond measure crafted bouncing baby girl full of life (permit the English). Everyone standing in the gap all ran towards the ward where  the baby was crying and started pouring out heart felt praises.

Her father carried her in his arms and was so delighted that he named her "OBINNA" (meaning the father's heart) despite the fact that it was a name for the male gender in igbo land, but he didn't mind as it's meaning speakes his heart and tells the height of his joy at that time. The mother called her "IFEYINWA" (nothing like this child). What a wonder she must have been to connote these names.

Obinna grew and waxed great with wisdom and understanding, and found favour with men, and with her God. in her early days in primary school,  she had a major hot water burn that almost disfigured the front part of her body but her God saw her through to the extent that when you see her, you can never tell she beat 60% burns. in her primary 4 she was knocked down on a major road by a reckless driver and her fore head split into 2 with blood gushing out like a river. Everyone on the scene thought Obinna was dead as she was rushed to the hospital in pull of blood. Some said "ahhh she can't make it", others said "oh poor little girl, what a waste". Obinna came out victorious after successful surgeries on her face and again I say, her God brought her through the experience to the extent that you can hardly tell when you see her.

In her first year in the University she suddenly started vomiting in school but did not realise it was the beginning of a journey that was set to close her chapter.  She was admitted at the hospital for 2weeks after the doctor diagnosed malaria,  and typhoid fever.  2 weeks passed but obinna was not getting any better. Obinna sort to be discharged and taken home in the company of her brother Ifeanyichukwu. That same day her condition grew worse and her elder sister Ijeoma rushed her to another doctor as thier mother was not in the country.  Ijeoma lost control on the steering as Obinna was not in a stable condition but Mr and Mrs Okorocha (family friends) came to the rescue after calling home and learnt about their way about.  Obinna was declared an emergency case as the car wheels screeched that night in search of blood bank in different hospitals. Getting to the very hospital (Annunciation hospital Enugu, Nigeria) where they found blood Obinna collapsed just at the entrance.  Thier was chaos in the entire environment,  nurses running up  and down.  One of the nurses actually said "why bring a dead body to the hospital", Ijeoma began to cry along with Mrs Okorocha as everyone believed it was over but Mr Okorocha refused to give in as he held her right hand and busted in tongues (praying in the holy ghost) and called Obinna back to life in the name of Jesus as he was screaming "Jesus Christ has paid the price" Obinna responded and there was great unrest in the hospital as doctors and nurses tried so hard to sustain the life in her.  Obinna was diagnosed with intensive gastric ulcer as opposed to malaria and typhoid diagnosed initially.  she was stooling and vomitting blood every 5minutes to the extent that blood transfusion was done via her hand and legs at the same time (unbelievable). Again Obinna went through this crisis and her God saw her through without hitches she made it out of the hospital and was certified miraculously healed by the doctors.

Obinna has gone through so many challenges in life and today she is telling her real life stories to the world. For 28 years Obinna has fought a lot of battles,  leveled mountains,  and swum through the many waters. She has come to tell that there is nothing like the love of a father, though her earthly father has passed away, Obinna still has a father that seats in the heavens and knows the beginning and the end, he is called the Alpha and Omega, Obinna says he has never failed her in 28years.

Today obinna has added yet another year and has come to encourage someone with her story. She says "hold on, be strong, your change, your healing, your promotion is near,  Chukwunonso (God is near)". Indeed "neither this man nor his parents sinned" said Jesus,  "this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him"  John 9 verse 3. Whatever the situation is, keep believing sooner than you expect his works will be displayed in you. It's all for a purpose. God is near! Jisike! (keep up the good work).

Its my birthday and I can't keep calm.  Thanks for reading,  hope you were blessed xxxxx

Obinna Ifeyinwa Onuoha.
